π Tom Steyer, author of CHEAPER, FASTER, BETTER

Where: Orinda Books, 276 Village Square Orinda, CA 94563
The climate is changing more rapidly than scientists predicted even a few years ago, with extreme weather already touching our everyday lives. At the same time, the clean energy revolution is forging ahead faster than nearly anyone anticipated. As Tom Steyer sees it, these two trends together create a moment like the one America faced during World War II: on the one hand, an existential threat calling for collective action; on the other, an opportunity to lead the world, protect the planet, and set the stage for a new generation of shared economic prosperity.
ποΈ Climate Film: The Reluctant Radical (2018) + Q&A with Ken Ward,
When: Wednesday, July 24 Β· 5 - 7:15pm PDT
Where: San Francisco Public Library, 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA 94102
An intimate portrait of climate activist Ken Ward. Ken breaks the law as a last resort and with great trepidation, to fulfill what he sees as his personal obligation to future generations. The film follows Ken through a series of civil disobedience direct actions, culminating with his participation in the coordinated action that shut down all the U.S. tar sands oil pipelines on October 11, 2016. Facing 20 years in prison for his actions, the film reveals both the personal costs and also the fulfillment that comes from following oneβs moral calling.

This workshop will address how you can get involved, starting from wherever you are, and how important it is that you do so. The only way forward is together.
