The New Futures Fellowship is a three-month remote fellowship program for graduate and undergraduate students that focuses on innovative and interdisciplinary solutions to the climate crisis.
🏆 Keeling Curve Prize (Due Feb. 12)
The Global Warming Mitigation Project’s flagship program, the Keeling Curve Prize, awards $50,000 annually to each of 10 global projects that demonstrate the ability to reduce, replace, or remove greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and oceans.

🌳 The Work That Reconnects Oakland: Healing Burnout Amidst Planetary Crisis
When: Sat, Jan 27th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: Canticle Farm, 1972 36th Ave, Oakland, CA
Join us for a day-long immersion into the Work That Reconnects, a group work developed over the past 5 decades to help transform grief, anger, and fear into compassionate connection and action. Led by Lydia Violet Harutoonian, who has studied with Joanna Macy for 15 years, this workshop offers tools for navigating the current crisis on a personal and planetary level. Your donation helps sustain the facilitator and hosts. Covid protocols may change based on the pandemic situation.
🎲 Understand Climate Change in 3 Hours
When: Sat, Jan 27th from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Where: San Francisco Public Library, 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA
In just 3 hours, 5 to 7 players will work together to connect causes and effects of climate change, learn about the science from the IPCC, and discuss ways to help reduce the effects of climate change. The workshop is in 3 parts: playing the game, debriefing about the game, and open-ended discussion and brainstorming about actions that can be taken to address or adapt to climate change. Collaboration is required for this event and it is recommended to arrive on time and have eaten something before.
✍️ Writing Workshop for Young Artists about Green Careers and Sustainability!
When: Sat, Jan 27th from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Where: Santa Clara County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA
Young artists are invited to participate in a workshop to create an anthem and music video about youth empowerment and green careers. Participants will have the opportunity to be featured in the anthem, receive a $600 stipend, record in a studio, and be part of a professional music video. The workshop is open to rappers, singers, poets, and spoken word artists. Limited spots are available, so registration is encouraged.
🃏 Climate Fresk Workshop: Climate Change in a Game of Cards
When: Sun, Jan 28th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Where: Sunnyvale Public Library, Program Room, 665 W Olive Ave, Sunnyvale, CA
Players will work together to connect the causes and effects of climate change, learn about the science from the IPCC reports, and discuss ways to help reduce the effects of climate change. The workshop includes playing a game, debriefing about the game, and open-ended discussion and brainstorming about actions that can be taken to address climate change. It is an engaging workshop that helps participants understand the climate urgency.
