🌐 The Complex Aftermath of Globalization

The Long Now Foundation welcomes Henry Farrell for a talk on the complex aftermath of globalization and the challenges the US faces in a interdependent world. The talk is presented in partnership with the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Farrell is a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and works on topics such as democracy, the politics of the Internet, and political economy.

Dr. Huan Yan from Impossible Foods will also discuss their mission to make the global food system sustainable by eliminating the need for animal agriculture. 🌱 How to make supply chains more sustainable? The case of EcoVadis

French unicorn EcoVadis has been helping companies all over the globe to leverage information and technology to assess suppliers on ESG criteria. 🌿 Monthly MLK Shoreline Cleanup
When: Sat, Sep 30th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Help preserve San Leandro Bay's last remaining marshland by cleaning up plastics and trash at Martin Luther King Shoreline Park (Damon Marsh). Wear sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle. Meet at the outdoor art sculpture at the end of Zhone Way in Oakland.

Join us for a Rain Guardians community event at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s Visitacion Valley rain gardens. Learn about rain gardens, get hands-on experience working on the gardens, and find out more about the Rain Guardians program.
🌍 Understand Climate Change in 3 hours
When: Sat, Sep 30th from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Where: Sports Basement Sunnyvale, Summit Room, 1177 Kern Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA
Players will work together to connect the causes and effects of climate change, learn about the science from the IPCC reports, and discuss ways to help reduce the effects of climate change. The workshop is in 3 parts: playing the game, debriefing about the game, and open-ended discussion and brainstorming about climate action. The workshop is engaging and a minimum amount of time needed to understand the climate urgency.
