RLC Hosts a Putting GREEN Social

The USGBC Northern California Rising Leaders Committee (a Bay Area emerging green professionals group) will be hosting a networking event on the green of TPC Harding Park. Putters and golf balls will be provided for registered attendees; but if you want to bring your own putter, it’s highly encouraged. There’s no question that humans are having a grave impact on our climate—or that artists, scientists, and advocates are reflecting on our changing world and building creative solutions. Tonight, look at that human impact through the meditative and immersive lens of artist Miwa Matreyek as she shares her kaleidoscopic, dreamlike multimedia performances Infinitely Yours (2019) and This World Made Itself (2013). Then, explore how thinkers in the realms of science, design, and technology are making unexpected and creative changes big and small to help slow our impact on the environment and encourage deeper understanding of and empathy for the natural world.
🌳 The State of Climate Policy in California

Join us for a discussion with State Senator Josh Becker & Lena Gonzalez as cover the state of climate policy in California. In 2022 alone, there was a 85% cut in emissions state-wide with a plan to reach net zero carbon pollution by 2045. Last year Governor Newsom introduced the California Climate Commitment, a comprehensive plan to cut pollution, provide clean and affordable energy, and tackle climate change disatours like wildfires. But how are we doing 1 year after?
💪 Climate Change: What Actually Works?
When: Sat, Jul 1st from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Where: San Mateo Public Library, 55 West 3rd Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94402
During this presentation, we will compare climate change solutions using En-ROADS, a climate change simulation website created by MIT Sloan. We will also discuss why solutions are more or less effective and share easy actions that all of us can do to help. This is not a doom and gloom presentation; this is a presentation that is full of hope and meaningful action. The presentation is non-partisan and all are welcome. Presented by Elaine Salinger, a retired veterinarian living in San Mateo. She is the Co-Leader of The San Mateo County Chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby and has received several awards for her climate activism and presentations. Tickets are not needed.
